Markus A. Will will be reading out of his thriller “The Dark Banker” in the Lou Calen Bookstore. He has been writing thriller novels since 2010, when he published his first book, Swiss bestseller “Bad Banker” – a fascinating and exiting page turner about the global financial meltdown of 2008.

About the author:

As an award winning former financial journalist, ex-investment banker, communications professional and university lecturer, the 61-year-old German and Swiss citizen knows how to entertain and to explain. In particular, in his reading sessions in bookstores, “when you can see into the eyes of your readers. I love these readings and discussions and do really look forward to my session in the Lou Calan Bookstore”, he says.

Many of his four thrillers have partly been written in his former Ticino vacation home, but Markus and his wife have recently relocated their vacation domicile to Cotignac. Friends have introduced them to the Provence Verde and Cotignac some years ago. “We felt in love with the area and the village immediately”, he explains. Markus will read out of “The Dark Banker”, which is his first thriller published in English and German. “Perhaps in a few years, I will do it in French, too.

For Markus, there is no such other topic of relevance for societies than economics, becauseit finances all and everything: from social to territorial security, from infrastructure to get to work, to school or to vacation and so on, he explains and adds: “But not many do understand the bigger picture, because it sounds boring and is too complicated for the people on Main Street. But this is not true, because one can keep it simple, as I try in my books – combining fiction with reality.”

Currently, he has started to work on his newest thriller, and some chapters will certainly be written in Cotignac. Perhaps, even a few sceneries might play in the area. When he had visited Zermatt a few years ago, he was fascinated about the little farm barns, reverted as luxury homes in the mountains near the Matterhorn. If you read The Dark Banker, you will find them in there. “Well, the Lou Calan Secret Garden could be a place to be in my new literary adventure”, Will says.

One can follow the “Making of Mr. Tresident” in his newsletter, which you can subscribe to on www.mrtresident.com. “The only problem is that Trump is more fiction than reality”, he adds, “but we can discuss it alongside during the reading.
