About the author
It was a surprise to Patricia Ortelli, a former student of the École du Louvre, that she became a winemaker. At the age of 30, she left ancient Greece behind and acquired an abandoned vineyard nestled in the heart of the Provençal hills: the Domaine de la Calisse, today renamed Château La Calisse. She trained in viticulture and oenology and, determined, she drained, levelled and replanted the land. A pioneer of viticulture, she decided that her wines must be in total symbiosis with nature: in this corner of Provence that belonged to Marcel Pagnol, she is one of the first to work entirely in organic farming.
